Instagram: A Big Photo Finish!

VIDEO: Forbes’ talks with Instagram CEO about his app

It’s amazing what you can do with a picture these days, especially within seconds of taking it.  Just in recent years, we’ve been able to edit higher quality cell phone images by applying all sorts of gels, filters and effects that can make your brand new picture look old…even ancient.

It’s only natural that someone would bring that type of technology to social media…and make a killing on it!   Kevin Systrom of Instagram is proof you and I may be thinking too hard when it comes to making our first million.  He just made 400 of those!

Unless you have been living under some sort of social media-deprived, digital rock, you’ve learned that Systrom’s two-year-old photo-sharing sensation Instagram was purchased by gurus at Facebook for a cool $1 billion.

$400 million of that deal goes to Systrom, the top dog who owns 40 percent of the company, according to one report.

It says there are 13 other full time employees that will share a pool of $100 million.  The appropriations will be based on how long each person has been with the company.  Heck, that means the guy whose only been there for a few months makes out just fine right? Not bad.  Not bad at all!
